Find the Stink

"Find the Stink" can be used in conjunction with The Case of the Unknown Stink or as a stand-alone PBL activity. In it, students try to determine the cause of an unknown odor inside a house. They conduct an investigation by researching associated topics and applying their new knowledge to the problem. Once a conclusion is established, students provide an explanation and submit their results for comparison with conclusions made by others. The object identified as the odor's cause is entered into a database and displayed in a graph showing the percentage of others that came to the same conclusions. Students can then apply these data to evaluate the processes used to reach a solution.
