Environmental Discussion

Directions

• Break into teams of four students and choose a team leader, researcher, recorder, and reporter.
• Each team reads over the statements. Select two quotes and two statements to talk about.
• The researcher will get necessary research materials (encyclopedia, science textbook, and dictionary).
• The team works together to develop a web of ideas. The recorder writes down any key words or phrases that the team wants to include in its final written product.
• Once all ideas and opinions are shared, the team will write at least two sentences about each quote and statement it selected.
• The reporter will share the information with the rest of the class.

1. As the world's population increases, a greater air pollution problem exists.
2. Kids are only little people, they can't make a difference in the environment.
3. Because natural air pollutants ( volcanic gases and ash, forest fires, agricultural waste gases) are produced in greater amounts, we should focus our attention on ways to reduce the pollution they create.
4. Motor vehicles account for about 50% of the air pollution nationwide.
