The Bermuda High

Purpose: To learn how a Bermuda high-pressure system will affect a hurricane

Materials

Procedure

1. Visit the USA Today Weather web site to learn more about high- and low-pressure systems.
2. Go to the Hurricane Track Simulator web site for the hurricane tracking simulator.
   1. Read the synopsis of how a Bermuda high-pressure system can affect the path of a hurricane.
   2. Go to the simulator and follow the directions to place your high- and low-pressure systems and the hurricane in place.
   3. Make a prediction for the path of the hurricane.
   4. Start the simulation and compare your prediction to the actual path.
   5. Repeat steps 2b-2d using a different placement.
   6. Discuss your findings.
