Purpose: To create a travel brochure or presentation to attract tourists to Mars

Materials

• plain white paper or construction paper
• crayons, markers, or colored pencils
• various reference books or internet sites on Mars
• pencil
• science journal
• various other objects as determined by
• presentation choice

Procedure

1. In a group of six (or six groups per class) determine each person's (or group's) specific role to perform.
   • Meteorologist - What's the air and weather like on Mars?
   • Geologist - What type of landscape does Mars have?
   • Mission Specialist - How are we going to get to Mars?
   • Journalist - What interesting facts are known about Mars?
   • Dietician - What kind of foods will we eat on Mars?
   • Historian - What is the history of the red planet?
   • Graphic Designer - How will you present the information?
2. Research information abour Mars as it pertains to your role and record it in your science journal.
3. Share information with group (class) and determine what information should be included in brochure or presentation.
4. After choosing the type of presentation, create the presentation and share it with the class. The presentation may include a travel guide in the form of a book, brochure, computerized slide show, mural, television commercial, infomercial, or interactive web site.
