Here's the Situation!
You’re an epidemiologist. A large number of students at SCIence Files Elementary School have come down with a mysterious illness. NASA has called you to help the administration track down what made these students ill. As the investigation unfolds, new questions will arise. Each right answer is another piece to solving the puzzle.

Your Role in the Case!
You are an epidemiologist working with SCIence Files Elementary to help solve a mysterious outbreak. The school nurse seems to think that a virus is causing the students to become ill. However, there is no evidence to back this up yet. So it is up to you to do your best to find out how this all got started and how to make it come to an end.

An epidemiologist is person who studies where a disease started, what caused it, how fast it spreads, and then they take the necessary actions to stop it. You are going to help find out what is causing the illness and take the necessary action to ensure that the other students in the building don’t contract the same illness.

The Criteria for the Case
Your first task for this investigation is to uncover which students have come down with the illness. Keep the following criteria in mind As you put together the pieces of the puzzle.

• develop a plan of action.
• keep a journal that includes investigated questions, important issues, and resources in the Problem Log provided.
• Produce a final report of your theory that explains what took place at SCIence files
  Elementary.
