- When an ant locates food on the kitchen floor, table, or countertop, it lays a scent trail back to the colony for the other ants to follow.
- The emperor moth has the most sensitive nose of any creature. The male can detect one molecule of the female's scent 4.8 kilometers away.
- Spiders have an odor receptor on their first pair of walking legs. It would be fair to say that they have smelly feet.
- People have roughly 12 million smell cells, whereas the bloodhound has nearly 4 billion!
- A rabbit never gets tired when smelling because its nose can blink. A little flap of skin actually covers each nostril for a split second, enabling the odor detectors to rest and then reopen again to smell.
